CLAIRE RAMONAS NAMED NECC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Regis College sophomore Claire Ramonas (Portland, Maine) has been named the New England Collegiate Conference’s Player of the Week in women’s basketball this week, it was announced by the league offices on Monday morning. Ramonas helped lead the Pride (20-4, 17-0 NECC) to a perfect 3-0 mark in three games last week.
WESTON, Mass. – Regis College sophomore Claire Ramonas (Portland, Maine) has been named the New England Collegiate Conference's Player of the Week in women's basketball this week, it was announced by the league offices on Monday morning. Ramonas helped lead the Pride (20-4, 17-0 NECC) to a perfect 3-0 mark in three games last week.
Ramonas averaged 15 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals per game this week in another 3-0 week for the Pride. Ramonas scored 12 points and had five steals in a 69-43 win over Bay Path to start the week. The sophomore then followed that up with back-to-back double-doubles in wins over Newbury and Elms College. Ramonas scored 19 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, had five assists and a pair of blocks in the 83-70 win over Newbury. Ramonas then scored 14 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and swiped four steals in a 64-40 win over second-place Elms College. Ramonas shot 53.3% from the field for the week and only missed one free throw in three games (92.9%).
Claire Ramonas currently leads the Pride in scoring (14.5 points per game), field goal percentage (58.9%), steals (2.4 steals per game), and is second on the team in rebounding (7.0 rebounds per game). In the NECC, Ramonas leads the league in field goal percentage, is seventh in scoring, ranks in the top-15 in rebounding, and is sixth in the league in steals, while ranking ninth in blocks per game.
The Crimson and Gold and Claire Ramonas return to action on Saturday afternoon as the Pride wraps up regular season play with a 1:00 p.m. game against Bay Path College in Longmeadow, Mass.
