REGIS COLLEGE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM HISTORY
The Regis College Women’s Basketball program got its start in the late 1940s under the direction of Edwina Hughes and Olive Nolan. The pair would coach the program for 33 seasons. In the 40s, Regis College competed against teams to the likes of Emmanuel, Clark, and the Newton College of the Sacred Heart.
Women’s basketball would dominate much of the 90s. The team would make several Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference appearances, an NCAA appearance, and win the Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship in that time.
Under the guidance of current head coach Julie Plant, who has coached since the 2005-06 season, the Pride have established themselves as a dominant program in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC). The team won the program's first NECC Championship in 2013 and made their first appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament since the 1995-96 season.
