WESTON, Mass. - Regis College finished the regular season 18-0 and earned the top seed in the upcoming New England Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball Championship. The Pride (21-4 overall, 18-0 NECC) earned a first round bye and will host the semifinals and finals beginning Friday, February 24. The Pride will play at 6:00 p.m. on Friday against the winner of the Becker and Daniel Webster game.
The Pride enters postseason play riding a season-high nine game winning streak and are outscoring NECC opponents by a nearly 33 point per game margin (75.4-42.7). Claire Ramonas (Portland, Maine) has led the Pride in scoring during their current win streak, scoring 15.3 points and grabbing 7.4 rebounds per game during the run.
Elms College (17-8, 14-4 NECC) earned the second seed and will play Bay Path (6-16, 6-12 NECC) in a first round game on Tuesday, February 21. Newbury College (15-10, 13-5 NECC) will be the tournament's third seed and will host sixth-seeded Mitchell College (8-16, 7-11 NECC) in a first round game on Tuesday. The winner will advance to play a semifinal contest at Regis on Friday. Fifth seed Becker College (8-17, 8-10 NECC) will travel to fourth seed Daniel Webster College (17-8, 13-5 NECC) for a first round matchup on Tuesday. The winner will meet top seed Regis on Friday in a semifinal game.
The top seven teams qualify for the NECC Championship. Predetermined tiebreaking procedures were used to seed teams with identical conference winning percentages.
First round games will be played on Tuesday, February 21 at the higher seed. Winners will advance to the semifinals held at Regis on Friday, February 24. Semifinal winners will play Saturday, February 25 at Regis.
