REGIS EARNS EIGHT SEED IN ECAC TOURNAMENT
The Regis College women’s basketball team has been named the number-eight seed in the upcoming Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) postseason tournament. The Pride (21-6) will travel to Keene State College on Wednesday night for a 6:00 p.m. matchup with the top-seeded Owls, who finished at 17-9 this year.
CENTERVILLE, Mass. – The Regis College women's basketball team has been named the number-eight seed in the upcoming Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) postseason tournament. The Pride (21-5) will travel to Keene State College on Wednesday night for a 6:00 p.m. matchup with the top-seeded Owls, who finished at 17-9 this year.
Regis enters the ECAC Tournament coming off a 66-63 setback to Daniel Webster in the New England Collegiate Conference Semifinals. Sabree Rodriguez (Brockton, Mass.) scored 22 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while All-NECC First Team selection Claire Ramonas (Portland, Maine) posted a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds in the setback to the Eagles.
The Pride have been led by Ramonas who is tops on the team in points (14.2 ppg), rebounds (7.1 rpg), and steals (2.5 spg). All-NECC Second Team selection Stephanie Crawford (Rockland, Mass.) is currently second on the team in scoring at 11 points per game and leads the team in both assists (3.1 apg) and free throw percentage at 88.2% (90-102).
Keene State earns the top-seed in the ECAC Tournament after also falling in their respective league's Semifinals. The Owls dropped a 60-52 decision to Southern Maine in the Little East Conference tournament as Courtney Cirillo (Windsor Locks, Conn.) scored 22 points and added five assists, five rebounds and four steals in the setback.
The Owls have been paced by Cirillo, who is the only Keene State player averaging double-digit points at 15.4 points per game. Cirillo is also the team's top rebounder at 8.7 boards per game and had 55 steals and 14 blocks this year to go along with a team-best 3.0 assists per game average.
The Pride and Owls meet for the first time since the 2009-2010 season when the host Owls defeated Regis, 73-64, as part of the Keene State Tip-Off Tournament. Regis' Crawford scored 11 points and had four assists in the setback.
