PRIDE PLACE WELL AT COLBY SAWYER

WESTON, Mass.- The Regis College men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams competed at Colby Sawyer College Saturday afternoon. The men’s squad defeated the Chargers by the score of 160-97, while the women’s squad took a second place finish losing 159-81.

The men were led by the strong swimming of Djordje Mandic (Portland, Maine.) who took three first place finishes in the 50yd backstroke, 50yd butterfly, and the 100yd backstroke. Teammate Zach Earl (Mexico, N.Y.) tied Mandic for top performances by tallying three victories in the 1000yd freestyle, 500yd freestyle, and the 50yd freestyle.

Nick Yerzk (West Hills, Calif.) and Stephen McGovern (Dorchester, Mass.) were the other two top finalists for the Pride as they both notched two first place finishes. Yerzyk took a first in the 100yd butterfly, and the 200yd IM, while McGovern swam for top times in the 50yd breaststroke, and the 200yd breaststroke. AJ Graf (Newton, Mass.) ended on a solid note for Regis by taking a first place finish in the 100yd freestyle.

On the women’s side Kelly Finn (Melrose, Mass.), Haley Bowen (Litchfield, N.H.), and Yassyra Diaz (Dorchester, Mass.) took top finished for the Pride. Finn finished with the top time of 31.15s to win the 50yd butterfly, while Diaz dominated in the 500yd freestyle to take the top spot. Bowen capped a strong performance by taking a first in the 200yd IM and a second place finish in the 200yd breaststroke. Meagan Pratt (Rockland, Mass.) ended on a strong note for the Pride by securing a second place finish in the 100yd butterfly.

Both squads return to action Saturday January 28th when the teams travel to Elms College.
