PRIDE ANNOUNCES CAPTAINS FOR 2012

Juniors Stephan Bottex (Norwood, Mass.), Mike Kaplan (Braintree, Mass.) and sophomore Brian Cidado (Easton, Mass.) have been named captains for the 2012 Regis squad, head men's lacrosse coach Josh Blumenthal recently announced.  Each of the four played in all 11 games during the Pride's 2011 campaign.

Bottex won a career-best 99 faceoff's last season ranking him first on the team.  He also scooped up a team-high 59 groundballs while chipping in eight points on the season.

A charter member of the men's lacrosse program, Kaplan was part of the Pride's offense that more than doubled its assists from a year ago, its first varsity season of competition in 2010.  He also was third in team faceoff victories.

A physical presence on the field, Cidado was the only defender to start all 11 games for the Pride during his freshman campaign in 2011.  He added 16 groundballs while racking up seven penalties.

"Being selected by your teammates to the leadership role of captain is something that these four young men have taken to heart and fully embraced," Blumenthal said, "Our club is becoming a truly unified family and these three men deserve much of the credit."

The Pride will enter their first season of play in both the Pilgrim League Lacrosse Conference on March 3 at Thomas College.
