BALDWIN, BASBAS AND DALLAS NAMED ALL-ACADEMIC
The Pilgrim Lacrosse League announced its 2012 All-Academic team earlier this week and Regis College placed three members of its team on the squad. The Pride’s Brett Baldwin (Burlington, Vt.), John Basbas (Framingham, Mass.), and Nick Dallas (Huntington Beach, Calif.) were named to the 2012 All-Academic Team.
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Pilgrim Lacrosse League announced its 2012 All-Academic team earlier this week and Regis College placed three members of its team on the squad. The Pride's Brett Baldwin (Burlington, Vt.), John Basbas (Framingham, Mass.), and Nick Dallas (Huntington Beach, Calif.) were named to the 2012 All-Academic Team.
45 student-athletes achieved a grade point average of at least 3.25 and were deemed a significant contributor by their coach.
Brett Baldwin, a starting defenseman for the Pride, scooped up 31 groundballs and caused 18 turnovers this year. The freshman also posted a 3.28 GPA in his first year at Regis. Baldwin has already been named a captain for the 2013 lacrosse season.
John Basbas finished the season fifth on the team in goals scored with eight and also tied for the team lead in assists with 10. The sophomore had a 3.27 GPA in 2012.
Nick Dallas, a starting midfielder, scored five goals and added three assists for eight points in 2012. The freshman also grabbed 36 groundball and went 32-for-60 (53.3%) on faceoffs this year. Dallas posted a 3.288 GPA this year.
Regis wrapped up its 2012 season at 4-11 overall this year and competed in the Pilgrim League for the first year. The Pride grabbed wins over Thomas, Becker, Johnson State and Wheelock, and look to continue their growing success as they head into their second year under head coach Josh Blumenthal.
