YERZYK SETS NEW TEAM RECORD IN PRIDE WIN OVER ELMS
Weston, Mass.—The Regis College men’s swimming team defeated Elms College Saturday (Jan. 29) by the score of 122-95. This was the third win in a row for the Pride who move to 7-5 on the season. The Visiting Blazers fall to 3-5 on the season.

The Pride was led by Nick Yerzyk (West Hills, Calif./Chaminade College Prep)who took two first place finishes at the meet and set a new school record in the 500-yard freestyle. Yerzyk won the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:20.14. He continued his strong swimming and took the 50 backstroke for the Pride.
Freshman Djorde Mandic (Portland, Maine/Deering) took three first place finishes at the meet. Mandic finished first in the 200-yard freestyle, 50 freestyle, and the 100 freestyle for the Pride.
Stephen McGovern (Dorchester, Mass./Boston College) won the 50 breaststroke for the Pride with a time of 29.89s. Andy Laforest (Roslindale, Mass./Another Course) had a strong day winning the 100 butterfly by recording a time of 59.91
The Pride won the 200 freestyle relay with Mandic, Yerzyk, Alex Caliendo (Windsor, Conn./Windsor) and Doug Dunbar (Danvers, Mass./St. John's Preparatory) swimming to first place with a time of 1:39.82.
In the 200 medley relay the Pride continued its winning ways as the squad of Caliendo, McGovern, Laforest, and Ben Perry (Chicopee, Mass./Chicopee) took first with a time of 1:50.64.
This is a record season for the Pride as they have recorded the programs first seven win season. The Pride will compete Saturday (Feb. 12) in the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association Championship.
