PRIDE TO PLAY IN WILLIAMS COLLEGE TIP-OFF TOURNAMENT
Weston, Mass.—The Regis College men’s basketball team is set to play in the Williams College Tip-off Tournament this Friday (Nov. 19).The Pride will travel to Williams-town, Massachusetts to take on SUNY-Cobleskill at 7:00 p.m. This is first scheduled game of the tourney for the Pride. The Pride enters the contest 1-0 after defeating New England Collegiate Conference member Lesley University earlier this week. The Fighting Tigers enter the contest with a record of 0-1 after losing to Little East Conference member Western Connecticut State University earlier this week.

On offense the Pride is led by seniors Darrin Kelley (South Dennis, Mass./Dennis-Yarmouth Regional) and Derrick Neal(Boston, Mass./Brighton ) who each had a strong offensive performance for the Pride against Lesley. On defense the Pride is led by Robert Edwards (Idaho Falls, Idaho./Phillips Exeter). Edwards crashed the boards for the Pride by tallying nine rebounds and swatted six blocks in his first college game. The Pride will need to take care of business on Friday night to secure a game in the championship on Saturday (Nov. 20). If the Pride wins Friday night they will play the winner of the Williams College and Southern Vermont College game. Failure to secure a win in the first game will force the Pride to play in the consolation bracket on Saturday.
If the Pride has to play Southern Vermont College on Saturday they will face a Mountaineer team that recently defeated Norwich University and enters the Williams Tip-off Tournament with a record of 1-0. On offense the Mountaineers are led by Lance Spratling (Pittsfield, Mass./Taconic HS) who has a team high of 20 points per game on the season. On the defensive side of the ball the Mountaineers are led by Deshawn Hamlet (Hartford, Conn./Buckley HS) who has tallied two steals and one block on the season. The Mountaineers first game in the tournament is scheduled against Williams College.
