PRIDE'S GENGA NAMED NECC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Regis College freshman Cheyenne Genga (South Windsor, Conn.) has named the New England Collegiate Conference’s Rookie of the Week in field hockey this week, it was announced by the conference office on Monday morning. Genga and the Pride currently stand at 6-9 overall and 4-1 in the NECC after a pair of conference wins over Elms College and Anna Maria College last week.

Genga and the Pride currently stand at 6-9 overall and 4-1 in the NECC after a pair of conference wins over Elms College and Anna Maria College last week.
Cheyenne Genga's best game of the week came in a 4-2 win over Anna Maria on Saturday afternoon. With the score tied 2-2 headed into halftime, Genga scored the game-winning-goal in the 50th-minute and scored an insurance goal just over a minute later to propel the Pride to its fourth conference win of the season. In 2011, Genga is currently tied for second on the team in both goals (7) and assists (5), while leading the Pride with 19 points.
Cheyenne Genga and the Regis College Pride return to action on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action when they travel to Willimantic, Conn. for a 4:00 p.m. matchup with Eastern Connecticut State University.
