THE FIGHT FOR THE PRIDE CUP BEGINS HERE!
Purpose
The Pride Cup is a game that is played by all varsity teams. It is designed to provide an opportunity for student-athletes to compete in various life skills categories. These categories include-developing the individual, leadership, teamwork, supporting athletes, and academic achievement.
The winning team will receive a cash reward from the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) to be used at the discretion of its coach. The coach of that team will also receive a trophy to be displayed in his or her office for the following school year. SAAC will sponsor a spring reception to present the trophy and confirm the winning team.
Categories
SAAC Attendance
- No limit to number of participants at meeting (two member voting limit is still in effect for all voting issues).
- Five points per attendee.
- 25-point leadership bonus for team members elected to executive board.
Game Attendance
- Must have 70 percent of team in attendance.
- Coaches will provide teams official rosters.
- No limit on number of games per semester.
- Take a team photo at game and email it to a SAAC advisor. Picture could be seen on www.GoRegisPride.com.
- 50-points per game.
Team GPA
- Highest to lowest GPA awarded in 10-point increments after fall
semester.
- Example: 16 varsity points. Highest GPA=160 points, 2nd Highest=150
Dean's List Bonus
- 50-point bonus if your team has a Dean's List member at the end of the fall semester.
Study Hall/Student-Athlete Welfare Program
- 30-points awarded weekly to each team that has 100 percent participation in all requirements of the Student-Athlete Welfare Program.
- 100-point bonus for each team that "graduates" each member of its team out of the Student-Athlete Welfare Program.
Social Event Participation
- Include attendance to any campus event on the student life calendar.
- 50 percent of team must be in attendance.
- Take a team photo at social event and email it to a SAAC advisor, picture might be added to GoRegisPride.com.
- 50 points per event attended.
Community Service Involvement
- Must obtain SAAC advisor approval for intended service initiative.
- Documentation received from benefiting organization.
- Must be at least one hour of service.
- 10 points received for every hour completed. Team captain, service involvement contact, and coach must sign documentation of total hours of service.
- 100-point bonus if at least 70 percent of team is involved.
