WOMEN'S BASKETBALL ADDS FIVE NEW ATHLETES TO ITS ROSTER

WESTON, Mass.—Additions to the Regis College Women’s Basketball team are underway. Head coach Julie Plant announced that five recruits would be entering their first-year with the program this coming winter. Sarah Pettinelli, Dana Sparks, Emilee Marro, Janaya Bradley, and Kim Daniels have all committed to coming to Regis College for the 2011-12 season.

Weston, Mass.—Teresa Busiek (Arlington, Mass./Arlington Catholic) was recognized as the Regis College Outstanding First-Year Student-Athlete during the department’s annual athletics banquet.

WESTON, Mass.—Regis College women’s basketball head coach Julie Plant (Gorham, Maine) was named to the Women’s Little East Conference 25th Anniversary Team. The silver anniversary announcement was made as part of the LEC Basketball Championship games. Plant, who played for the University of the Southern Maine from 1996-2000, has been a head coach at Regis College since the 2005-06 season.

GORHAM, Maine – Junior Courtney Cochran (Waite, Maine/Woodland) scored 17 points and grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds to lead the University of Southern Maine Huskies to a 62-59 win over the Regis College Pride in a quarterfinal game of the 2011 ECAC Division III New England Women’s Basketball Championship tournament Wednesday night at Hill Gymnasium in Gorham, Maine.

NEWPORT, R.I. - Top-seeded Salve Regina University women's basketball (24-3) won its 19th straight game with a 56-42 decision over No. 5 Regis College in a semifinal of The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Championships at the Rodgers Recreation Center. The Seahawks will host the No. 2 seed, University of New England (21-6), in the TCCC championship game at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

WESTON, Mass.—The No. 5 Regis College women’s basketball team will make its fourth consecutive appearance in The Commonwealth Coast Conference postseason Tuesday (Feb. 22) when it travels to No. 4 Endicott College. Head coach Julie Plant will hope to coach her team to another championship as she did in the 2009-10 season.

(02.19.11) – Paced by Sarah McNult’s team-high 17 points, Regis College defeated the Anna Maria College women’s basketball team, 57-49, during The Commonwealth Coast Conference regular season finale on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Pride finish the regular season with a mark of 15-10 overall and 9-4 in the conference, while the loss drops the AMCATS to 7-18 on the year and 1-12 during TCCC-play.
