OSANTO MARC NAMED ALL-NECC HONORABLE MENTION

Regis College freshman Osanto Marc (Kissimmee, Fla.) has been named to the All-New England Collegiate Conference Honorable Mention Team in men’s basketball, it was announced on Monday afternoon by the league offices. The Pride (11-16) were also awarded the league’s Team Sportsmanship Award.

Andre French (Torrington, Conn.) scored 14 points, including 12 during a furious second half rally, to lead Elms past Regis in a 50-45 victory in the NECC Men’s Basketball Championship Semifinals on Friday night at the Leicester Gym. The Blazers of Elms are now 17-9 on the season while the Pride of Regis wrap-up their 2011-2012 campaign at 11-16.

Regis College senior Jonathan Josselin (Medford, Mass.) has been named the New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week this week, it was announced by the NECC offices on Monday. Josselin helped lead the Pride to a 1-1 week last week, while helping Regis secure a spot in the NECC postseason.

The Regis College men’s basketball program earned the number six seed in the upcoming NECC postseason, it was announced by the league offices on Sunday. The Pride (10-15, 7-9 NECC) will take on three seed Wheelock College (12-13, 10-6 NECC) on Tuesday night in a 7:00 p.m. matchup. The winner advances to take on Elms College on Friday night at 8:00 p.m.

Regis College defeated Southern Vermont College, 93-58, on Saturday night in New England Collegiate Conference men’s basketball action in Weston, Mass. The Pride improves to 10-15 overall and 7-9 in the NECC and awaits word to hear who their first round opponent will be in the NECC playoffs starting on Tuesday night. Senior captain Kandley Val (Boston, Mass.) posted a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds on Senior Day.

The Pride drop to 9-15 overall and 6-9 in the NECC, while Newbury wraps up its regular season at 11-14 and 8-8 in league play. Ryan Chambers (Abington, Mass.) nailed five three-pointers en route to 15 points to lead the Pride.

Regis College men’s basketball player Osanto Marc (Kissimmee, Fla.) has been named the New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week this week, it was announced by the conference offices on Monday afternoon. Marc helped lead the Pride (8-12, 5-6 NECC) to a 1-1 week last week by averaging 14 points per game on nearly 60% shooting.

Becker College’s Terrance Favors (Boston, Mass.) scored a game-high 25 points as the Hawks moved to a perfect 10-0 in the New England Collegiate Conference with a 66-43 victory over host Regis College in NECC action on Thursday night. Regis drops to 8-12 this year overall and 5-6 in league play while Becker improves to 15-4 overall and remains unblemished in the NECC. Osanto Marc (Kissimmee, Fla.) scored 10 points to lead the Pride.

Regis improves to 7-10 overall and 4-4 in the NECC while Mitchell has now dropped five-straight to drop to 5-10 overall and 3-6 in league play.
