REGIS TABBED FOR SEVENTH IN PRESEASON POLL
The Regis College men's basketball was selected to finish seventh in the upcoming 2011-2012 season according the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Men's Basketball Preseason Polls, it was announced by the conference office today. All voting was conducted amongst the league's head coaches. The Pride joins the NECC after posting a 15-12 overall record last season and 8-5 mark in the CCC.

All voting was conducted amongst the league's head coaches. The Pride joins the NECC after posting a 15-12 overall record last season and 8-5 mark in the Commonwealth Coast Conference.
Regis receives an influx of youth this season with seven freshmen joining the squad. The Pride graduated a pair of 1,000 point scorers in Derrick Neal (Boston, Mass.) and Phil Alibrandi (York, Maine) and will hope that sophomore Ryan Chambers (Abington, Mass.) can improve upon his 8.6 points per game a season ago and lead the team in scoring. Meanwhile, seniors Kandley Val (Boston, Mass.) and Jonathon Josselin (Medford, Mass.) provide senior leadership to the young Pride group.
Becker College was chosen to finish atop the 2011-12 NECC standings. The Hawks, who received seven first place votes and 77 points, return four starters from last season's NCAA Tournament team. Elms was picked to finish second with 74 points and a pair of first place votes. The Blazers defeated Becker in last season's championship game, 79-65, to earn the automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
Regis opens up its season on Friday, November 18th as the Pride host three teams as apart of the team's Tip-Off Tournament. Regis will take on Maine Maritime at 5:00 p.m. followed by a 7:00 p.m. game between Medgar Evers and Western Connecticut.
