Catalanotto Headlines Women's Volleyball Postseason Awards
WESTON, Mass. — As announced by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC), four members of the Regis College women's volleyball team have earned All-Conference honors. Eva Catalanotto (Cheshire, Conn.), Grace Fabiano (Greenland, N.H.), Avery Mola (Cheshire, Conn.), and Alexandra Rivera (Bristol, Conn.) were all recognized for their standout seasons. Catalanotto led the group with Rookie of the Year honors and a Second Team selection, while Fabiano also earned Second Team status along with a GNAC Sportsmanship nod. Mola and Rivera were both named to the Third Team.
Catalanotto put together an outstanding rookie campaign, earning five GNAC Rookie of the Week awards throughout the season and firmly establishing herself among the league's top newcomers. She totaled 254 kills and averaged 2.13 kills per set while hitting an impressive .280—finishing second in the GNAC in hitting percentage, a remarkable feat for a first-year player. Across 33 matches and 119 sets, she accumulated 349 points and consistently delivered in big moments. One of her top performances came in the GNAC Semifinal win over Emmanuel, where she tallied a season-high 21.5 points with 16 kills and seven blocks. Catalanotto becomes the first GNAC Rookie of the Year in program history and the first overall since Katryna Veasey earned the honor in the NECC in 2016.
Joining her on the Second Team is junior middle blocker Grace Fabiano, who closed out a career-best season. Fabiano recorded 270 kills on a .224 hitting percentage and led the conference with 114 total blocks, including 98 block assists and 16 solo blocks. She surged late in the season, scoring 10 or more points in 12 of her final 14 matches. In postseason play, she delivered a 15-kill, four-block performance against Rivier, followed by 14 kills and four blocks against Emmanuel. Earlier in the year, she earned GNAC Player of the Week after totaling 28 kills (2.55/set) on a .339 hitting percentage, 12 blocks (1.09/set), and nine digs across 11 sets, highlighted by strong performances against Elms, Rutgers-Newark, and John Jay.
On the Third Team, outside hitter Avery Mola continued her strong career in the crimson and gold. Mola led the Pride in kills (277), digs (295), and service aces (60), finishing fifth in the GNAC in kills and fourth in aces. A former GNAC Player of the Week, she produced 31 kills (3.10/set), 23 digs (2.30/set), four blocks, and five aces during her award-winning week. Her season included 12 matches with double-digit kills, and nine double-doubles, highlighted by a 15-kill, 21-dig performance against the Monks. After another strong season, Mola has pushed her career-total to 859 kills, which is enough for second all-time in program history, while her 180 career-service aces sits her at third.
Joining Mola on the Third Team is standout setter Alexandra Rivera, who put together a historic sophomore season. Rivera set new program records with 49 assists in a single match and 975 assists in a season. She recorded 19 matches with 30 or more assists, including seven with 40-plus. After just two seasons, she ranks third all-time at Regis with 1,541 assists. Rivera led the GNAC in assists this year, finishing 181 ahead of the next closest setter. She also collected nine double-doubles, including a five-match stretch in which she averaged 36.2 assists and 10.8 digs. Her GNAC Setter of the Week award came after totaling 102 assists (9.27/set), 21 digs, and a block over 11 sets, capped by 43 assists and 12 digs in a five-set win over John Jay - a match in which she surpassed 1,000 career assists.
Along with her Second Team nod, Fabiano was also selected to the GNAC Sportsmanship Team, recognizing not only her on-court performance but also her leadership, integrity, and positive representation of the Pride throughout the season.
This marks the third straight season Mola has earned All-Conference recognition, while Catalanotto, Fabiano, and Rivera all receive the honor for the first time.
Regis women's volleyball concluded the season with a 19–14 overall record and a 9–4 mark in GNAC play. The Pride put together an impressive postseason run, upsetting both the No. 4 and No. 1 seeds on the road to earn a trip to the GNAC Championship match.
