Regis Women’s Volleyball Set to Face Strong Competition in 2023
2023 REGIS COLLEGE WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL SCHEDULE
WESTON, Mass. - The Regis College women's volleyball team will host four tri-matches as part of a strong 2023 schedule that features two new conference opponents and 15 home contests overall.
The Pride will open the season at the RWU Invitational, hosted by Roger Williams in Bristol, R.I., against Clark Friday, Sept. 1, followed by matches against Wellesley and the host Hawks Saturday, Sept. 2. The home opener for Regis takes place Tuesday night, Sept. 5, against WPI, with Plymouth State visiting Higgins Court for a match Thursday, Sept. 7.
The first home tri-match for the Pride takes place Saturday, Sept. 9, and involves Suffolk and UMass Dartmouth. After a quick trip to face Worcester State Tuesday, Sept. 12, Regis welcomes Salve Regina and Husson for another tri-match Saturday, Sept. 16.
Regis heads into Boston Thursday, Sept. 21, to take on Wentworth, and to Hartford, Conn., Saturday, Sept. 23, for a tri-match hosted by Trinity College that also includes Montclair State. The Pride open their GNAC schedule Tuesday night, Sept. 26, against Saint Joseph's College, followed by the annual Regis Fest tri-match Saturday, Sept. 30, against Simmons and conference newcomer Mitchell.
The next three matches also take place at Higgins Court as Regis hosts defending GNAC champion Johnson and Wales Wednesday, Oct. 4, University of Saint Joseph Friday, Oct. 6, and Wellesley Thursday, Oct. 12. The Pride then play six straight contests away from home, beginning with a tri-match at Anna Maria Saturday, Oct. 14, that also includes New England College.
Regis stays in Massachusetts for road matches at Emmanuel Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Eastern Nazarene Thursday, Oct. 19, and at Elms Saturday, Oct. 21, as part of a tri-match that also includes Dean. The final three regular season home matches for the Pride take place Wednesday, Oct. 25, against Lasell and Saturday, Oct. 28, as part of a tri-match with Norwich and Framingham State.
The month of November begins with a road match at Rivier Wednesday, Nov. 1. The regular season concludes for the Pride Saturday, Nov. 4, with a tri-match at Colby-Sawyer that also includes Albertus Magnus.
With the expansion of the conference to 16 teams, the GNAC Women's Volleyball Tournament will now involve 10 squads, starting with two first round matches Monday, Nov. 6. The quarterfinals hosted by the top four seeds will take place Tuesday, Nov. 7, followed by the semifinals Thursday, Nov. 9, and the championship match hosted by the highest remaining seed Saturday, Nov. 11.
Regis College is coming off a 20-13 overall record in 2022 for its second straight 20-win season, the first time the team has rattled off consecutive 20-win campaigns in seven years. Within the GNAC, the Pride finished fifth with a 9-4 league mark, qualifying for the GNAC Tournament.
Women's volleyball is one of the intercollegiate sports sponsored by Regis College within NCAA Division III as a member of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC).
