PAOLINI LEADS PRIDE TO VICTORY
Weston, Mass.Regis College senior Ashley Paolini (Epping, NH) led the way for the Pride, as Regis College defeated Pine Manor 3-0 Friday night. Regis (7-8, 1-2 TCCC) would take Pine Manor (5-3, 2-0 GNAC) handedly in its first two games, but struggle in game three.
Weston, Mass.-Regis College senior Ashley Paolini (Epping, NH) led the way for the Pride, as Regis College defeated Pine Manor 3-0 Friday night. Regis (7-8, 1-2 TCCC) would take Pine Manor (5-3, 2-0 GNAC) handedly in its first two games, but struggle in game three.
Amanda Dennis (Haverhill, Mass.) would look to lead her team to victory in game one, as the Gators would tighten the score as the two teams would go point-for-point.
Regis College started strong offensively with 11 serve aces in game one. Paolini would lead Regis College with five. The Pride would use its early aggressiveness to its advantage defeating Pine Manor 25-12 in game one.
After taking a timeout early in game two, Regis College began to feel the pressure that the Gators would begin to apply. Dennis would surface to spark a seven point run against the Pride.
In danger of losing game two, Regis College would again try to regroup at 22 points apiece. The two teams would exchange offensive attacks, score off serve exchanges, and stand defensively against each other. The Pride would rally with the score tied at 25 to score its last two points to win 27-25.
Paolini remained determined to keep her pack ahead of Pine Manor, as she continued a relentless barrage of attacks at the Gator defense. Assisting her through each attack would be setter Randi Garrity (Reading, Mass.). Garrity would finish with 15 assist for the Pride.
Rachel Mastine (Syracuse, NY) hoped to assist Dennis in forcing game four, but Regis College would fend off any thoughts of that happening. Paolini again hailed kills against Pine Manor. She would finish with 16 kills for the night.
Regis College takes the court again Saturday, Sept. 27 at 1 pm. Regis will face conference opponents Gordon College and Wentworth Institute of Tecnology.
