Regis Women’s Track Opens Season with Strong Debuts at Suffolk Relays
BOSTON, Mass. — The Regis College indoor women's track and field team kicked off their season this morning at the Reggie Lewis Center, competing in the Suffolk Relays. Eight first-year athletes made their Crimson and Gold debuts, with several posting impressive performances for the Pride.
Zoe Kirk earned a third-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 9.84 seconds. She also placed sixth in the high jump with a mark of 1.45 meters, just 0.01 meters shy of the program record in her first collegiate competition. Fellow freshman Julia Benvegnu led the Pride in the 200 meters, finishing seventh with a time of 27.73 seconds, followed closely by Lily Griffin, who crossed in 28.79 seconds. Hannah Griffin secured a top-ten finish in the 400 meters, placing ninth with a time of 1:05.49.
The sprint medley relay team consisting of Benvegnu, Grace Micklon, Olivya Bush (Spring, Texas), and Hannah Griffin posted a sixth-place finish with a time of 4:50.70.
The Pride will return to action tomorrow at UMass Boston for the Beacon Season Opener.
