Five From Women’s Track & Field Named to Academic All-District Team
WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College women's track and field team placed five student-athletes on the 2023-24 College Sports Communicators Division III Women's Track and Field/Cross Country Academic All-District® Team, as the national organization of content creators announced the honorees Tuesday, June 18.
In order to be eligible for selection to the Academic All-District® Team, student-athletes must have posted at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average, must be a sophomore or higher, and must have finished in the top 50 regionally in at least one event in either cross country, indoor track and field, or outdoor track and field, with the cross country standings dictated by results at the NCAA regional meets and the track and field results guided by the rankings as listed on TFRRS.org at the time of the nomination.
Emily Aho (Pelham, N.H.) excelled in the triple jump during both the indoor and outdoor seasons, first posting a personal-best mark of 9.88 meters (32' 5") to finish fifth at the GNAC Indoor Championships and 39th in the region. At the Tufts Snowflake Classic March 30, she finished seventh in the triple jump at 9.86 meters (32' 4.25"), ending up in 41st overall in the region at the end of the year.
Elisa D'Sa (Bellmore, N.Y.) posted a time of 13:30.39 in the 3000 meter steeplechase to finish second at the GNAC Outdoor Championships and 27th in the region. She helped the Pride women earn their third team title at the GNAC Outdoor Championships by participating in the 4x800 meter relay that won the event in an overall school-record time of 10:26.50. This is her second straight year as an Academic All-District® honoree in track and field.
Grace Micklon (Salem, N.H.) placed in the top 50 regionally in the indoor pole vault at 2.00 meters (6' 6.75"), the indoor high jump by tying her own school record at 1.46 meters (4' 9.5") and the outdoor high jump at 1.42 meters (4' 7.75"), equaling the school record in that event as well. Micklon finished fifth in the high jump at the GNAC Indoor Championships and sixth in the high jump at the GNAC Outdoor Championships.
Libby Parker (Bow, N.H.) won the GNAC individual title at the GNAC Outdoor Championships in the 3000 meter steeplechase in 13:22.69, good enough for 26th in the region, and finished fifth in the 10,000 meter run with a personal-best time of 46:29.72. She also finished third in the 3000 meter run at the 2024 GNAC Indoor Championships with a personal-best time of 12:10.75 and earned First Team All-GNAC honors by placing seventh at the 2023 GNAC Cross Country Championships.
Samantha Perkins (Whitman, Mass.) won her second GNAC individual title in three years in the javelin throw with a personal-best mark of 37.58 meters (123' 3"), ending up ninth in the region and qualifying for the New England Division III Outdoor Championships. She also scored for the Pride in the shot put with a sixth place finish at 9.47 meters (31' 1") to help the team capture the GNAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship team title.
D'Sa, Parker, and Perkins have been selected as finalists for Academic All-America® consideration, with the national ballot to be voted on by members of College Sports Communicators. First-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced July 9, 2024.
