Regis Women’s Tennis Well-Represented on ITA Scholar-Athlete List
PHOENIX, Ariz. – Six members of the 2020-21 Regis College women's tennis team have received Scholar-Athlete recognition from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), as the national organization announced the complete list of Division III honorees Wednesday, July 14.
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 for the 2020-21 academic year and must have been listed on the institutional eligibility form. In total, 1,048 female student-athletes from 148 different NCAA Division III tennis programs were named ITA Scholar-Athletes.
Leading Regis's representation are four student-athletes entering their senior year at the school: Ori Attridge (Westwood, Mass.), Kaitlyn Colby (Merrimac, Mass.), Kaeleigh FitzPatrick (South Windsor, Conn.), and Lauren Mogelnicki (Wethersfield, Conn.). Rising junior Ells Mine Saint Paul (Marlborough, Mass.) follows up her first Academic All-GNAC selection with this award, and Stephanie Beatrice (Rockland, Mass.) completed a strong first year in the classroom to qualify for the honor. All six Pride award recipients posted a GPA of 3.6 or higher during the 2020-21 academic year.
On the court, Mogelnicki has accumulated 20 career singles victories and 20 career doubles wins. FitzPatrick has collected 26 total victories, 14 singles and 12 doubles, and Colby has earned 18 career wins (seven singles, 11 doubles) as a member of the Pride. Attridge has previously joined the tennis program in the spring after playing soccer in the fall, while Beatrice and Saint Paul have been preparing to contribute to the program.
The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) is the governing body of college tennis, overseeing men's and women's varsity tennis at all levels – NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, NAIA, and Junior/Community College. According to the ITA's release announcing the academic awards, "Academia is a key aspect of the college tennis experience. Collegiate tennis players add to the rich intellectual community found on college campuses across the nation."
Regis College sponsors 20 intercollegiate sports within NCAA Division III as part of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.
