Regis Swim and Dive Make Another Strong Showing in GNAC Weekly Awards
WESTON, Mass. – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) announced its weekly awards Monday afternoon, with three members of the Regis College swimming and diving programs earning recognition. Christina Dupre-Honda and Michael Zammuto collected Diver of the Week honors, while Sophia Caruso was named Rookie of the Week.
Zammuto secured his third Diver of the Week award this season after finishing first in the men's 1-meter, 11-dive program on Friday night. Dupre-Honda matched that feat with a score of 334.5 on the board during the Regis Invitational, marking her third Diver of the Week honor and fourth weekly award of the year.
Caruso turned in a standout weekend at the Regis Invitational. The first-year opened competition by setting a new Regis Pool record in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.91. She went on to contribute to season-best marks in the 400 medley relay, 400 freestyle relay, and 200 freestyle relay, including a 4:08.64 in the 400 free—nearly six seconds faster than the Pride's previous best. Caruso also claimed the top spot in the 100 freestyle in 55.64, winning the event by almost five seconds. The honor is her fourth Rookie of the Week recognition and sixth weekly award overall.
The Pride will have some time to recover before heading to Puerto Rico for a training trip after the New Year.
