Pride Compete at Home Against Elms, Gordon & Simmons
WESTON, Mass. — The Regis College women's swim and dive team returned to action Friday night after a brief hiatus, hosting Elms College, Gordon College, and Simmons University at the Regis College Pool. The Pride defeated Elms, 151.5–90.5, but fell to Gordon (188–83) and Simmons (175–88).
Ava Hubster (Crown Point, Ind.) delivered the team's lone event win of the evening, taking the 500 freestyle in a season-best 6:08.85.
Hubster also added a season best in the 100 butterfly, clocking 1:11.48, while Vera Rivard (Springfield, N.H.) turned in a season-best 1:18.72 in the same event. In the sprints, Jenna Silva (New Bedford, Mass.) posted a season-best 30.13 in the 50 free, and Amy Martinez (Marlborough, Mass.) dropped nearly three seconds for a season-best 36.48.
In the 50 breaststroke, Sophia Nylin tied for third with a season-best 37.86, followed closely by Whitney Assamoi (Boston, Mass.) at 40.10. Assamoi later added another season best with a 1:05.12 in the 100 freestyle.
Margaret Rivard (Springfield, N.H.) opened the distance events for Regis with a personal best 13:29.79 in the 1000 freestyle. Emma Tirri (Stony Point, N.Y.) continued the momentum with a major drop in the 200 freestyle, posting a personal-best 2:28.67, more than a minute faster than her previous time.
On the diving board, Christina Dupre-Honda (Brookline, Mass.) made an impressive debut in her first 11-dive 1-meter competition, scoring 387.60. The performance earned her the win by over 30 points and moved her to fourth all-time in program history.
The Pride return to the pool next week for the Regis Invitational, a two-day meet held on campus. Friday's session begins at 6 p.m., followed by Saturday's events at 11 a.m.
