Class of 2021 Spotlight - Women's Soccer
WESTON, Mass. - The series of stories on GoRegisPride.com spotlighting student-athletes in the Regis College Class of 2021 continues with eight members of the women's soccer program. These young women helped the Pride qualify for the GNAC Women's Soccer Tournament in 2018 and 2019. In the classroom, they made a significant contribution to three consecutive Judith W. Burling Team Awards for Academic Excellence (2019, 2020, 2021) for having the highest team grade point average among the 20 Regis athletic programs.
Jamie Carucci (Windsor, Conn.) played in 16 matches for the Pride as a freshman and sophomore, appearing in eight contests in each season. During the 2018 season, she made her first career start against Emerson, plus she also started the team's conference victory at Anna Maria. Playing in the backline, Jamie was a part of four Regis shutouts during her career, including shutouts over Rivier in consecutive seasons. She transitioned into a team manager role, providing valuable assistance to the coaching staff and the players. Jamie received her bachelor's degree in nursing.
Ali DeMeo (Peabody, Mass.) appeared in 13 matches as a freshman during the 2017 season. She started four contests, beginning with an 8-1 victory over Anna Maria. She also played in the backline during shutouts of Mount Ida and Rivier. Ali returned to the program for the 2019 campaign, but a preseason injury prevented her from appearing in any matches during the season. She received Academic All-GNAC recognition in 2019 and is a two-time Regis Academic Excellence honoree. Ali received her bachelor's degree in exercise science.
Payton Fitzgerald (Danielson, Conn.) appeared in 48 matches, including 32 starts, during her Regis career. As a freshman, she led the Pride with eight goals, earning Third Team All-GNAC honors. She followed up with six goals as a sophomore, including two-goal performances against Eastern Nazarene and Albertus Magnus. In total, Payton accumulated 16 goals and nine assists for 41 points, tied for ninth in program history in both career points and career goals. She was also a part of the 2018 GNAC women's outdoor track and field championship squad. A two-time Academic All-GNAC selection, Payton graduated with her nursing degree.
Brianna Gaynor (Peabody, Mass.) played in 52 matches during her Pride career, including 22 starts. As a freshman, she scored her first career goal, tying Saint Joseph's College in an eventual draw. She also dished out two assists in a victory at Norwich. In 2018, she picked up goals in victories over Suffolk and USJ, plus she enjoyed another two-assist match against Albertus Magnus. As a junior, she once again provided key goals in victories over Curry and Simmons. A two-time Academic All-GNAC honoree, Brianna received her bachelor's degree in education.
Emily Lange (Ashland, Mass.) started 48 of the 51 matches she appeared in during her collegiate career. As a freshman, she scored two goals against Suffolk. Later in the season, she scored the game-winning goal in the final minute of regulation against Becker. In 2019, she scored six goals, including the game-winning tally with less than five minutes remaining against Rhode Island College. Emily finished second on the team in goals as they qualified for the GNAC Tournament. She is a two-time Academic All-GNAC honoree who graduated with a bachelor's degree in neuroscience and psychology.
Emma Mendes (Pawtucket, R.I.) appeared in 51 matches, including 18 starts, for the Pride. She accumulated 12 goals and three assists during her collegiate career. She started her freshman season with a goal against Maine-Farmington and two goals against Mount Ida, plus she scored goals against Johnson & Wales and Rivier. After scoring twice in 2018, she collected five goals during the 2019 season, capped by a two-goal performance against Anna Maria. A two-time Academic All-GNAC selection, Emma earned her degree in nursing from Regis.
Maddie Michaud (New Orleans, La.) was in the starting lineup twice and came in as a reserve 31 other times during her career. As a freshman, she earned her first career collegiate point with an assist against Mount Ida, followed by her first career goal later in the season against Anna Maria. She also picked up an assist against Lasell. In 2018, she made her first career start against Anna Maria, scoring a goal in that contest. Maddie also started a match in 2019 against Curry, taking two shots as the Pride won, 3-2. Maddie received her bachelor's degree in psychology.
Larissa Perez (Pacoima, Calif.) joined the Regis women's soccer program starting in 2018 and appeared in nine matches during that season. She helped the Pride defense notch shutouts against Anna Maria and Rivier. She played in 18 matches during the 2019 season, making the first of 13 starts in Regis' 3-2 victory over Curry. Larissa was in the starting lineup for the team's shutouts against Rivier, Anna Maria, and Emmanuel, helping the squad qualify for the 2019 GNAC Tournament. A two-time Academic All-GNAC selection, Larissa completed her bachelor's degree in psychology in December.
