WESTON, Mass. – The start of the 2019 competition season for both the men's and women's lacrosse teams of Regis College will now take place in March, as contests scheduled for the next two days have been postponed due to extremely cold temperatures and wind chills.
The Regis women's lacrosse team was scheduled to travel to UMass Dartmouth to face the Corsairs Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 26, while the Pride men's lacrosse team was set to open its season at home against Becker College Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 27. However, the forecast calls for single-digit wind chills over the next two days, creating unhealthy conditions for prolonged outside activity, and coaches and athletic administrators from the involved schools agreed to postpone their contests to a future date to be determined.
The women's lacrosse team is now scheduled to start the 2019 season Saturday, March 2, at Ramapo beginning at 1 p.m., while the men's lacrosse team plans to open its schedule Sunday, March 3, in Franklin, Mass., against Dean College beginning at 11 a.m.
