WOMEN'S LACROSSE ANNOUNCES 2013 SCHEDULE
The Regis College women's lacrosse team recently released their 2013 game schedule, which will feature ten home games.
WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College women's lacrosse team recently released their 2013 game schedule, which will feature ten home games. Fresh off a successful 2012 campaign that saw the squad go 9-4, the Pride will be among six institutions to participate as members of the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) in its inaugural season of women's lacrosse as a sponsored sport.
Regis opens up the season March 2 on the road at Mount Saint Vincent before flying off to Texas, where the Pride will take on Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference member Dallas. The game marks the first meeting of both programs.
Four days later, the Crimson & Gold will begin a four game home-stand featuring games against Emmanuel (Mass.) (March 13), Green Mountain (March 16), Maine-Farmington (March 17), and Sage (March 19), three of whom are familiar opponents. Last season Regis defeated Green Mountain, 19-4, and Sage, 10-7, but dropped a heartbreaking overtime game to Emmanuel (Mass.), 13-12 with just two minutes remaining.
Three of the next four games on the schedule have the team on the road, with games at Mass. Maritime (March 23), Thomas (Me.) (March 28), and Saint Joseph's (Me.) (April 4). The Pride recorded convincing wins against Mass. Maritime and Thomas in 2012, winning 18-5 and 15-10, respectively. Regis will be looking to avenge a tough loss to Bard last season at home on March 26 before making the trip to Maine.
The squad opens up NECC conference play on April 6 against Bay Path and will host the final nonconference game of the season three days later against Salem State, who sneaked past the Pride, 18-15 last year.
Perhaps the toughest stretch of the season begins April 13, as the Pride will play four games in one week, traveling to Wheelock (April 13) before hosting Daniel Webster (April 16), Wentworth (April 18), and Elms (April 20). Regis came out victorious against each of these opponents last season except for Wentworth, who will be entering their first season of varsity competition in 2013.
The regular season wraps up on April 27 on the road against Becker, who the Pride defeated, 15-5 last year.
The NECC Semifinals are scheduled for May 1 and the Championship is slated for May 4.
