WESTON, Mass. — Madi Zancan added three well-deserved weekly honors to her résumé, highlighted by national recognition, following a dominant week for the Regis Pride. The senior earned her first New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Player of the Week award of the season and fourth overall NEWBA honor, along with the first D3hoops.com recognition of her career and her first United States Basketball Writer's Association (USBWA) Division III National Women's Basketball Player of the Week award.
Zancan averaged 29.5 points, 20.0 rebounds, and 5.0 steals per game while leading Regis to a pair of conference victories. Zancan shot an impressive 60.5 percent from the field and 92.9 percent from the free-throw line, totaling 59 points and 40 rebounds across two starts.
She opened the week with 27 points and 20 rebounds in a 79–61 win over Mitchell on January 28, adding six steals and two blocks in a complete two-way performance. Zancan followed with a career-high 32 points in an 82–77 victory over Norwich on January 31, shooting 12-for-17 from the floor and a perfect 8-for-8 at the line while once again pulling down 20 rebounds. In the win over the Cadets, she scored the Pride's final 10 points to seal the victory.
Zancan currently leads the GNAC in scoring at 20.9 points per game while ranking second in the conference in rebounding (11.9 per game) and total steals (62). On the program's all-time list, she stands third in Regis women's basketball history with 1,645 career points - just 15 shy of moving into second place.
Zancan's D3hoops.com Team of the Week selection marks the program's second all-time honor, with the first coming from Emilee Marro in 2015, while her USBWA Division III National Player of the Week recognition is the first in program history.
