Zancan Averages 29.5 Points and 20 Rebounds for Fifth GNAC Player of the Week Honor
WESTON, Mass. — Following another dominant week, Madi Zancan has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week for the fifth time this season, marking a career best for the senior.
The Cumberland, R.I. native averaged 29.5 points, 20.0 rebounds, and 5.0 steals per game while leading Regis to a pair of conference victories. Zancan shot an impressive 60.5 percent from the field and 92.9 percent from the free-throw line, totaling 59 points and 40 rebounds across two starts.
She opened the week with 27 points and 20 rebounds in a 79-61 win over Mitchell on January 28, adding six steals and two blocks in a complete two-way performance. Zancan followed that effort with a career-high 32 points in an 82-77 victory over Norwich on January 31, shooting 12-for-17 from the floor and a perfect 8-for-8 at the line while once again grabbing 20 rebounds. In the win over the Cadets, she scored the Pride's final 10 points to secure the victory.
Zancan currently leads the GNAC in scoring at 20.9 points per game and ranks second in rebounds (11.9) and total steals (62).
Zancan and the Pride will look to continue their three game win streak tomorrow when they host undefeated Emmanuel College at 5:30 p.m.
