Dominant Stretch Earns Zancan Third GNAC Player of the Week Honor
WESTON, Mass. -- Senior forward Madi Zancan earned her third Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week honor of the season after a dominant two-game stretch at the Daytona Beach Shootout. Zancan averaged 33.5 points and 13.0 rebounds per game while shooting an efficient 60.5 percent from the field on the week.
She opened the trip with a historic 50-point, 17-rebound performance against Alma, going 19-of-27 from the floor and 12-of-18 at the free-throw line. Her 50 points marked the highest single-game scoring total in Regis College women's basketball history. Zancan followed that effort with 17 points and nine rebounds against Grove City, finishing the week with 67 total points, 26 rebounds, and 21 made free throws while averaging 32.5 minutes per game.
Zancan currently ranks among the GNAC's top performers, leading the conference in points per game (21.9) while sitting second in field-goal percentage (57.2) and fifth in rebounds per game (10.5), continuing to establish herself as one of the league's most complete players this season.
Regis College women's basketball is back in action to start the New Year when they welcome Northwestern (Minn.) to Higgins Court on Friday, January 2 for a 1 p.m. game.
