Regis Women’s Basketball Announces 2022-23 Schedule
2022-23 REGIS COLLEGE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SCHEDULE
WESTON, Mass. - After collecting 13 wins during the 2021-22 season and advancing to the semifinals of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament, the Regis College women's basketball team has announced its competition schedule for the 2022-23 campaign.
The Pride open the season at UMass Dartmouth Wednesday, Nov. 9, before the home opener against Bridgewater State Saturday afternoon, Nov. 12. Regis plays its next three non-conference games on the road, traveling to Wheaton Wednesday, Nov. 16, University of New England Saturday, Nov. 19, and Eastern Nazarene Tuesday, Nov. 22.
The GNAC slate begins with a home game against Elms College Saturday, Dec. 3, followed by a home contest against WPI Monday, Dec. 5. Regis travels to Johnson and Wales University Wednesday, Dec. 7, and then closes out the 2022 portion of the schedule by hosting Framingham State Saturday, Dec. 10.
The Pride begin the new year with road contests at Rivier Tuesday, Jan. 3, and Albertus Magnus Thursday, Jan. 5. Regis then starts a three-game homestand with University of Saint Joseph Saturday, Jan. 7, followed by contests against defending GNAC champion Emmanuel Wednesday, Jan. 11, and Dean College Saturday, Jan. 14. The Pride are on the road for the next four games, beginning with the short trip to Lasell Tuesday, Jan. 17, followed by a rematch with divisional foe University of Saint Joseph Thursday, Jan. 19.
After games at Elms Saturday, Jan. 21, and at Norwich Wednesday, Jan. 25, the Pride play their next five games at Higgins Court, starting Saturday, Jan. 28, against Johnson and Wales. Regis then welcomes Anna Maria Thursday, Feb. 2, Colby-Sawyer Saturday, Feb. 4, and Lasell Wednesday, Feb. 8, followed by the Senior Day game against Albertus Magnus Saturday, Feb. 11.
During the final week of the regular season, Regis travels to face Saint Joseph's College Tuesday, Feb. 14, and Dean College Saturday, Feb. 18. With the return of divisional play, the Pride will need to finish within the top four of the GNAC South Division to qualify for the GNAC Tournament. In the preseason coaches poll, Regis received two first place votes and finished second in the South Division with 76 total points behind Albertus Magnus College with 10 first place votes and 88 total points.
The quarterfinals of the postseason conference tournament are scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 21, followed by the semifinals Thursday, Feb. 23, and the championship game Saturday, Feb. 25. The winner of the tournament will receive the league's automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament.
Samantha Crough enters her second year as head coach of the Regis women's basketball program. The Pride posted a 13-9 overall record in 2021-22, including an 11-3 GNAC mark, and advanced to the semifinals of the GNAC Tournament for the second consecutive time the tournament has been held.
