2019-20 Schedule for Regis Women’s Basketball Finalized
2019-20 REGIS WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SCHEDULE
WESTON, Mass. – With the start of official practice closing in and the first game less than a month away, the Regis College women's basketball schedule for the 2019-20 season has been finalized, featuring 12 home games.
The Pride open the 2019-20 campaign with a trip to Maine during the second weekend of November, facing University of New England Friday, Nov. 8, and Southern Maine Saturday, Nov. 9. After a midweek contest at UMass Dartmouth Wednesday, Nov. 13, Regis participates in the Dean Bulldog Tip-Off Tournament, taking on Connecticut College Saturday, Nov. 16, and either Clark or Dean Sunday, Nov. 17.
The home opener for Regis is Wednesday, Nov. 20, against Fisher College before a special occasion, as the Regis Women's Basketball Tribute Ceremony is scheduled for halftime of the 3 p.m. contest against WPI Saturday, Nov. 23. The Pride close out November with a pre-Thanksgiving trip to Fitchburg State Tuesday, Nov. 26.
Before heading into Winter Break, the Pride will play three games during the first week of December, starting with a home contest against Wentworth Monday, Dec. 2. Regis hosts Framingham State Thursday, Dec. 5, and then plays at Eastern Nazarene Saturday afternoon, Dec. 7, in the final game of 2019.
Regis opens the new year with afternoon home games against Becker Thursday, Jan. 2, and against Brandeis Saturday, Jan. 4. The Pride then plays four straight road contests, beginning with the conference opener at Albertus Magnus, the team that eliminated Regis from the 2019 GNAC Tournament, Saturday, Jan. 11.
The road swing continues with league games at Johnson & Wales Wednesday, Jan. 15, and at Rivier Saturday, Jan. 18, before closing with a non-conference game at Rhode Island College Wednesday, Jan. 22. The Pride then open a four-game homestand against Emmanuel Saturday, Jan. 25, followed by a contest against Lasell Wednesday, Jan. 29.
February begins with home games against University of St. Joseph Saturday, Feb. 1, and against Colby-Sawyer Tuesday, Feb. 4. After a road game at Norwich Saturday, Feb. 8, the Pride close out the home schedule against Suffolk Wednesday, Feb. 12, and against Anna Maria Saturday, Feb. 15. The regular season concludes with a road game at Saint Joseph's College Saturday, Feb. 22.
The top eight teams in the final regular season league standings will qualify for the GNAC Tournament, with the quarterfinals scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 25. The semifinals will take place Thursday, Feb. 27, followed by the championship game at the highest remaining seed Saturday, Feb. 29.
Regis finished the 2018-19 season with an 11-15 overall record, including a 7-5 league mark to end up in a tie for fifth place in the standings. Angela Santa Fe enters her seventh season as head coach with 10 returners from the previous year along with five newcomers.
