TUFTS VICTORIOUS IN PARK LODGE TOURNAMENT

Weston, Mass.—Regis College (6-3) gave Tufts University (8-1) a slight scare when Regis closed the Tufts lead to three points in the second half. Tufts balked the possibility of losing its lead, and took a 78-56 victory in the championship game of the Park Lodge Tournament Sunday.

Having trailed for much of the game Regis’ Jessica Page (Quincy, Mass.) sank a three-pointer to close the Jumbos lead to just three. Page finished with 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the floor. The senior, Page, was perfect from behind the arc (3-of-3).

Page led all Regis scorers’, and was named to the Park Lodge All-Tournament team. 

Although the two teams were similarly matched, Tufts Julia Baily (Farmington, Conn.) was almost unstoppable. Baily posted the games only double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds. She shot 82 percent (9-of-11) from the floor, and snagged a game-high seven defensive rebounds.

Baily missed just two free throws in her 34 minutes of play. Two other Jumbos joined Baily in double figures. Collen Hart (Needham, Mass.) and Tiffany Kornegay (Carver, Mass.) rang in with 20 and 14 points respectively.

Hart was named Park Lodge All-Tournament Most Valuable Player for her weekend performance. She posted 21 points against Maine Maritime on Saturday.

Kornegay went 6-of-11 from the floor, and was a perfect 2-of-2 from the free-throw line. The Pride’s Stephanie Crawford (Rockland, Mass.) added 11 points to Regis’ total.
