Weston, Mass.—Women’s basketball will continue its The Commonwealth Coast Conference schedule when it travels to New England College (7-8, 0-3 TCCC) Wednesday. Regis College (8-7, 2-1 TCCC) will face a program quite capable of being defeated.
Jenny Bronson and Rachel Williams lead New England College in most of its offensive categories. Bronson, a graduate student, has the team’s highest points per game (16.5). Williams is not far behind, averaging 15.9.
The pair is tied for most total rebounds with 107.
As a team, New England is averaging 58.4 points per game. In comparison, the Pilgrims opponents are tallying more than 62.8 points per game. Regis averages just shy of 70 points per game.
New England is also turning the ball over more than its opponents, and is making just 36 percent of its shots from the field.
Regis College enters the game led by Jessica Page (Quincy, Mass.), and most likely Stephanie Crawford (Rockland, Mass.) at the guard position.
Page is averaging just less than 16 PPG, shooting 40 percent from the floor, and averaging 8.0 rebounds per game. With her ability to break double figures in points, and etch the double digit mark in rebounds, a great deal of offense is generated when Page is having a good night.
In comparison, Crawford is shooting 43 percent from the floor, averaging 11.4 points per game, and nearly 5.0 assists a game.
The two are solid contributors to Regis’ success in all facets of the game plan. In order for Regis College to be successful against NEC, the numbers will need to be translated to on-court performance.
Regis will need to generate more offensive production from its other three starters, and especially its bench.
Throw Meagan Tobin (Quincy, Mass.) into the mix of player’s that will likely need to step up entering this game. Tobin had a season-high 16 points earlier versus conference opponent Colby-Sawyer, so her potential to score exists.
Tobin is scoring +4.0 points better per game (10.0) against the TCCC than overall opponents.
As it often has this season, winning will come down to execution of the offensive game plan, and limiting NEC’s transition baskets.
Wednesday’s game will tip-off at 5:30 pm in Henniker, N.H. Live stats will be available at http://www.sidearmstats.com/necnh/wbball/
