SPIRITS HIGH AS REGIS PREPARE TO FACE SEAHAWKS

Weston, Mass—Regis College (7-6, 1-0 TCCC) women’s basketball will host Salve Regina (6-6, 1-0 TCCC) in its second The Commonwealth Coast Conference game of the season Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
The Pride narrowly escaped defeating the second ranked TCCC preseason favorite, Colby-Sawyer, 75-73 Saturday.
Jessica Page (Quincy, Mass.) had a commanding 23-point, 11 rebound performance versus the Chargers, and a similar night should be in the works against Salve Regina.
Sophomore Meagan Tobin (Quincy, Mass.) also had an incredible night, scoring a season-high 16 points. Tobin was 4-of-7 (.571) from behind the three-point mark Saturday.
Regis will need to have more than two players make up 50 percent of its offense against Salve Regina.
Likely contributors could be sophomore Stephanie Crawford (Rockland, Mass.), who had 10 assists in her last game, Bianca Flores (Dorchester, Mass.), and Sarah McNult (Hampstead, N.H.).
Flores is more than capable of hitting a game-changing shot, like she did against Colby-Sawyer. Flores converted a three-pointer to tie the score late in the game versus the Chargers.
McNult is leading Regis College in rebounds (109), and if she remains in much of the game Tuesday she will likely have a game high number of boards.
Crawford could most likely be the second highest point getter on the team tonight. Page and Crawford work well together when on the court, and Crawford’s ability to penetrate the lane and finish is key.
If Regis executes effectively in every area of tonight’s game plan, the Pride will hold Salve Regina’s Erin Phillips and Lindsay Shorey to a minimum.
Phillips is the Seahawks leading scorer, averaging 19.1 points per game. Shorey is just over the double-digit mark, averaging 13.5 PPG.
Similar to Regis, Salve’s scoring is spread out between its starters and bench.
Olivia Browning holds the top spot in rebounds for Salve Regina. Browning is averaging 8.6 rebounds per game.
Most of her rebounds are defensive (6.0), meaning if Regis attacks its missed shots, and maintains the ability to have second chance opportunities it could prowl out of The Den with a second conference win.
Phillips is second in rebounds, averaging 6.9 RPG.
The game will tip-off at 5:30 p.m. in the Regis College Athletic Arena.
