Weston, Mass.-Regis College (6-5) fell to Plymouth State University 72-65 Sunday as the two teams participated in the University of Southern Maine New Year's Classic.
Senior Jessica Page (Quincy, Mass.) posted a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds for Regis. Page was 7-of-9 (78 percent) from the free-throw line for the Pride.
Two other Pride teammates would tally double figures Sunday. Bianca Flores (Dorchester, Mass.) had a team high 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field, and was 2-of-3 from both the free-throw line and beyond the three point mark.
Junior Brittany White (Dorchester, Mass.) contributed with 13 points, and was two rebounds shy of having a double-double also. White had eight rebounds in her 34 minutes of play.
Sarah McNult (Hampstead, N.H.) had 10 rebounds for Regis College. The Pride had five more total rebounds than Plymouth State (45-40).
Regis handled Plymouth State in bench points (20), and second chance points (23). Both categories are important as they show how the Pride's bench contributed, and how possession of the ball translated into points for Regis.
Regis was only able to contribute 26 points in the paint however.
The Pride will play in the 6:00 p.m. game Monday versus host
team the University of Southern Maine.
