Julian and Rees Earn Third Team All-Conference Honors
WESTON, Mass. – As announced by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC), Kate Julian and Mel Rees earned GNAC Third Team All-Conference honors, with Julian recognized as a pitcher and Rees honored at third base. Sophomore Francesca Licata represented the Pride on the GNAC Sportsmanship Team.
Julian led the Pride in the circle this season, appearing in 21 games this season, making 16 starts and pitching 101 innings for the Pride. She finished the year with 66 strikeouts, a 3.47 ERA, and nine wins, including seven complete-game victories. Julian struck out six batters in a game four different times, with three of those performances coming in wins.
Across her first two collegiate seasons, Julian has totaled 104 career strikeouts, placing her among the top 10 in program history in both strikeouts and wins. Some of her strongest performances came in victories over Mitchell College and Elms College, where she allowed just one hit in each outing while keeping both teams scoreless and recording five strikeouts apiece.
Rees joined Julian on the All-GNAC Third Team after leading the Pride offensively throughout the season. The third baseman totaled 39 hits, eight doubles, 18 RBIs, and posted a .386 batting average alongside a .417 on-base percentage and .565 slugging percentage. Defensively, Rees recorded a .915 fielding percentage with 24 putouts and 30 assists on 59 total chances.
She led the team in batting average and hits while ranking second in RBIs and on-base percentage and third in slugging percentage. Earlier in the season, Rees put together an eight-game hitting streak and recorded at least one hit in 25 games. She also produced 11 multi-hit performances, including three separate 3-for-4 outings against North Central College, Blackburn College, and Norwich University. In the matchup against North Central, Rees drove in four runs, while she added three RBIs at Norwich. One of the highlights of her season came in a 10-5 victory over University of Saint Joseph, where she collected the 100th hit of her collegiate career.
Licata earned Regis' spot on the GNAC Sportsmanship Team after serving as a leader both on and off the field throughout the season. The center fielder appeared in 24 games and enjoyed a career year at the plate, totaling 34 hits and six extra-base hits, including four triples, which ranked second on the team. Beyond her statistics, Licata was a constant source of energy and positivity for the Pride, helping foster a supportive and welcoming environment while emerging as one of the team's vocal leaders throughout the season.
This marks Julian's first postseason honor and the first time a Regis pitcher has earned All-GNAC honors, outside of the all-rookie team, in the conference era. Rees collects her second postseason honor after previously earning all-rookie team recognition during her first season with the Pride, while Licata earns the first postseason recognition of her collegiate career.
The trio played a major role in one of the most successful seasons in recent program history, helping lead the Pride to their highest conference win total in the GNAC era and the highest divisional seed earned by Regis since joining the GNAC.
