WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College softball team improved their win streak to four games after sweeping the twinbill against Wheelock College 24-0 and 27-1 in five innings. With the victories the Pride improve to 5-4 and remain undefeated in NECC play (4-0). The defeats drop the Wildcats to 2-6, 0-4 NECC on the season.

Regis 24, Wheelock 0

Junior flamethrower Katie Cuozzo (Lynn, Mass.) improved to 3-3 on the year and lowered her earned run average to 1.95 with three dominant innings against the Wildcats. Cuozzo allowed only one hit and struck out eight of the nine batters she faced. Cuozzo also went 2-for-3 from the plate with two doubles, two runs scored and a RBI.

Designated player Alyssa McKinnon (Raynham, Mass.) went 4-for-4 from the dish driving in three runs and scoring three times. Right fielder Kirbie Garvey (Littleton, Mass.) scored three times and drove in three runs while catcher Rachel Tortora (Malden, Mass.) and first basemen Taylor Polizonis (Cromwell, Conn.) drove in four and six runs respectively.

Pitcher Maggie Doyle (Kingston, Mass.) went 2-for-3 from the batter's box and second basemen Rebecca Biancardi (Peabody, Mass.) was 1-for-2 from the plate for the Wildcats.

Regis 27, Wheelock 1

Junior pitcher Marissa Magarian (Goffstown, N.H.) moved to 2-1 on the young campaign while throwing four innings of four hit ball allowing one run and striking out one batter.

Left Fielder Jess Perez (Lynn, Mass.) didn't play during the first game of the doubleheader, but made her presence felt during the second game as she drove in seven runs from the seventh spot in the lineup. Katie Cuozzo also had a strong game at the plate going 3-for-5 with four runs scored and an RBI. Kirbie Garvey also knocked in four runs during the victory.

Right fielder Ashley Penta (Topsfield, Mass.) went 1-for-2 with a double during the contest. Pitcher Vanessa Valenti (Woodstock, Conn.) was 1-for-2 from the plate and scored the Wildcats lone run after her teammate Rachael Simpson (Littleton, Mass.) shortstop grounded out to second base.

Every member of the Pride recorded a hit and drove in at least one run during the second game.

The Pride will travel to Mitchell for a doubleheader against the Mariners tomorrow at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. while the Wildcats will continue their five day road trip with two games against Southern Vermont tomorrow.
