FRANKLIN, Mass -- The Regis men's volleyball team was on the road today at Dean College taking on the Bulldogs as well as the VTSU Johnson Badgers in a tri-match. The Pride would go 2-0 on the day only dropping one set. Today's wins improve ther record to 4-0, 0-0 in GNAC play.
Regis vs. Dean
Regis opened their first match of two in dominant fashion, cruising to a 25–13 win in the first set behind an explosive serving run from Jalen Watt and steady distribution from Evan Shank. Watt sparked an early surge with a service ace and multiple kills. The Pride never let Dean settle in, closing the set on a commanding 9–1 run that included another Watt ace and a kill from John Nangle.
The second set was even more one-sided, as Regis overwhelmed Dean 25–6 with relentless pressure at the service line and balanced offense. Nangle keyed the early run with a service ace, while Eddie Djatcha, Brandon Valdes, and Haden Houatchanthara all contributed kills during a massive 14–1 stretch. Regis capitalized on Dean errors and continued to win points in transition, never allowing the Bulldogs to find momentum.
Dean showed more fight in the third set, trading points early and briefly closing the gap behind a serving run from Hunter Armitage. However, Regis responded timely and regained control midway through the set. Adam Bonica delivered several clutch kills, and a late service error from Dean sealed a 25–19 third-set win, completing the straight-sets sweep.
Regis vs. VTSU Johnson
The Pride opened their match with VTSU Johnson with a strong offensive showing in the first set. After a back-and-forth start, the Pride found rhythm behind Vincent Betonio's finishing at the net and a steady connection with Younes Suleiman. A decisive late run pushed Regis into control, capped by kills from Xavier Reyes to close the set 25-16.
The second set was tightly contested throughout, featuring multiple momentum swings and extended rallies. The Badgers briefly took control late, but Regis responded with clutch plays at the service line and timely swings from Haden Houatchanthara and Albert Aweh. The Pride closed the set on a composed run to secure a 26–24 win, taking a 2–0 lead in the match.
VTSU Johnson answered in the third set, jumping out early and never relinquishing momentum. Strong serving pressure allowed them to build separation, handing Regis an 18–25 loss despite solid contributions from Eric Alteus and Betonio.
In the fourth set, Regis responded with resilience. Trailing early, the Pride turned the tide behind an extended run keyed by Evan Shank's setting and balanced attacking from Jalen Watt, Brandon Valdes, and John Nangle. Regis rattled off nine straight points late to erase a deficit and close out a dramatic 25–19 set win, sealing the match 3–1.
