Mcclain and Jones Open Up Outdoor Track and Field Season at SNHU Invitational
MANCHESTER, N.H. — Represented by a small duo, the Regis men's outdoor track and field team opened their outdoor season Thursday at the Southern New Hampshire University Invitational, held at Mark A. Ouellette Stadium. Brock Mcclain competed in the hammer throw and shot put, while Jones took part in the long jump, 100-meter dash, and 200-meter dash.
Inside the Numbers:
- In the jump pit, Jalen Jones opened his season with a mark of 5.35 meters in the long jump, placing 21st overall.
- On the track, the sophomore turned in a strong showing in the 100-meter dash, finishing fourth in his heat (57th overall) with a personal-best time of 12.27- improving his previous mark by 0.35 seconds and edging a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) competitor from Saint Joseph's College of Maine by 0.06 seconds. He later clocked a time of 25.73 in the 200-meter dash (31st overall), marking his first collegiate outdoor appearance in the event.
- Brock Mcclain posted a mark of 10.33 meters in the shot put, ranking ninth all-time among Regis first-years in the outdoor season. He followed that up with a 29.50-meter throw in the hammer, placing among the top five first-year performances in program history. McClain also finished second among the six GNAC competitors and 18th overall in the event.
