Top-Seeded Men’s Tennis Set To Defend NECC Title
After an undefeated 6-0 conference run, the Regis (Mass.) men’s tennis team is set to vie for its fifth straight NECC Men’s Tennis title as they earn the first seed in the league’s postseason tournament.
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – After an undefeated 6-0 conference run, the Regis (Mass.) men's tennis team is set to vie for its fifth straight NECC Men's Tennis title as they earn the first seed in the league's postseason tournament. Regis will host fourth seeded Wheelock College in the semifinals, as third seeded Lesley University will travel to second seeded Becker College, both contests will be held on Saturday, April 22nd, 2017.
The Pride are led by reigning NECC Player of the Year Chris Harrow, while the Wildcats are will look to the 2016 NECC rookie of the Year Arvin Hedayaty. Harrow has won each No. 1 singles match that he has played in, while also scoring six victories throughout conference play at No. 1 doubles with freshman partner Gabriel Montealegre.
Sophomore Throngpol Chinpanjapol leads the Hawks this season playing all of his matches at the top of the lineup. The Barre, Mass. native has earned NECC Player of the Week honors during week two of the season. Chinpanjapol will look to lead Becker back to the NECC Championship as he did a season ago. The Lynx will rely on No. 1 Niko Marcollini who has helped them earn their way back to the NECC Playoffs after missing out in 2016.
The NECC Semifinal between top seeded Regis and fourth seeded Wheelock is slotted for 11:00 a.m. start, while second seeded Becker and third seeded Lesley will get underway at 1:00 p.m. The semifinal winners will faceoff in the NECC Championship on Sunday April 23rd at the highest remaining seed.
