PRIDE STAY PERFECT IN NECC WITH 9-0 WIN

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College allowed only three points on the day en route to a 9-0 sweep of Wheelock College in New England Collegiate Conference men's tennis action on Thursday afternoon in Weston, Mass. The Pride improve to 8-5 overall and 5-0 in the NECC, while Wheelock drops to 0-3 and 0-2 in league games.
The Pride grabbed three quick points in doubles play as Michael Beluch (Lynn, Mass.) and Jarid Polley (Reading, Mass.) posted an 8-0 win over Claire O'Donoghue (East Haven, Conn.) and Caelin Mooney (Rensselaer, N.Y.) at No. 1 doubles. Jeff Parrish (Framingham, Mass.) and Andy White (Bozeman, Mont.) defeated Will Spofford (Kennebunk, Maine) and Kayla Arsenault (Eliot, Maine) by a matching score of 8-0 at No. 2 doubles. The Pride won the No. 3 doubles matchup by default.
In singles play, Jeremy Morgenbesser (Bayport, N.Y.) picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win over O'Donoghue at the top singles position, while Nick Hildreth (Harvard, Mass.) defeated Will Spofford, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 3 singles. Polley, Austin Nace (Sarasota, Fla.) and John Corraccio (Wethersfield, Conn.) each recorded 6-0, 6-0 wins at their respective singles matches. Corraccio picked up his first collegiate win at No. 5 singles in the 9-0 sweep. The Pride won the No. 6 singles spot by default.
The Pride return to action on Friday night when they travel to Lesley University for a 7:30 p.m. matchup with the Lynx. Wheelock hosts Regis College on Saturday afternoon in a rematch scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
