Swimming & Diving Teams Picked To Finish Second In GNAC Championship Poll
Both the Regis (Mass.) men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams have been predicted to finish second in this weekend’s Great Northeast Athletics Conference Swimming & Diving Championships.
WINTHROP, Mass. – Both the Regis (Mass.) men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams have been predicted to finish second in this weekend’s Great Northeast Athletics Conference Swimming & Diving Championships. The two-day meet will be held Dec. 2-3 at the Holmes Sports Center in Boston and hosted by Simmons College.
Both teams placed second in last season’s GNAC championship meet, combining to set six meet and three school records in the final day. They enter the competition two weeks removed from both topping Saint Joseph’s (Me.) in a two-day meet hosted at Regis Pool.
Simmons received all eight first-place votes and 64 points in the 2017 women’s pre-championship poll. Norwich University has been chosen to win the inaugural 2017 GNAC Men's Swimming & Diving Championship, as the Cadets have won the past six GNAC Invitationals. Norwich received all six first-place votes en route to 36 points.
Saturday Day 1 prelims get underway at approximately 10:30 a.m., followed by the 1-meter diving before evening finals start at 6:00 p.m. Sunday's prelims will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by the 1650 free and 3-meter diving. The two-day event will conclude with Day 2 Finals beginning at 4:00 p.m., which will be followed by an award ceremony presentation.
