Coach Capobianco and Alcon Highlight GNAC Postseason Awards
WESTON, Mass. – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) has announced its All-Conference teams, as voted on by the league's coaches. Head Coach Renato Capobianco and Chris Alcon (Cartagena, Spain) highlighted the Pride's honorees, earning Coach of the Year and Goalkeeper of the Year recognition, respectively.
Alcon also secured a spot on the First Team, joined by teammate Michael Champagne (Wellesley, Mass.), while Callum Park (Providenciales, Turks & Caicos) was named to the Third Team. Juan Pablo Chavarria (Revere, Mass.) represented the Pride on the GNAC Sportsmanship Team.
Alcon posted a 6–2 record in goal this season, with four of his six victories coming via shutout. In 18 appearances, the sophomore tallied 53 saves, maintaining a .697 save percentage and 1.47 goals-against average (GAA). Four of his wins came in one-goal decisions, where his clutch performances and diving saves proved crucial. Midway through the season, Alcon earned GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week honors after a perfect week between the posts—allowing no goals in 135 minutes of action against Saint Joseph's (Maine) and Mitchell.
A force in net all season, Alcon stopped two penalty kicks during conference play and climbed the program record books, moving to third all-time in career wins (13) and tied for second in career shutouts (6).
Graduate transfer Michael Champagne made his lone season with the Pride count, leading the team with five goals and three assists for 13 total points. Champagne delivered standout offensive performances, including a two-goal outing against Mitchell and a goal-and-assist effort in the regular-season finale versus Lasell. He was also a key contributor on defense, helping the backline earn three of the team's four shutouts.
Senior Callum Park rounded out the Pride's All-Conference selections, earning Third Team honors. The veteran midfielder started 17 of 18 games, recording four goals and one assist for nine points. Park was clutch late in the season, notching two game-winners in GNAC play, including his first career multi-goal performance on Senior Day.
Head Coach Renato Capobianco was named GNAC Coach of the Year after guiding the Pride to an 8–10–1 overall record and an 8–4 mark in conference play. This season, he reached a major milestone with his 100th career victoryin a 2–0 win over Colby-Sawyer on September 27. Under his leadership, the Pride achieved their best regular-season GNAC finish (3rd) in program history and their best overall finish since 2016, outperforming preseason projections that placed them seventh.
Sophomore Juan Pablo Chavarria represented the Pride on the Sportsmanship Team, recognized for his steady leadership and consistent play along the backline that helped anchor the defense throughout the year.
The Pride concluded their season with an 8–10–1 overall record, falling in the first round of the GNAC Tournamentin penalty kicks to Norwich University.
