Callum Park Called Up to Turks & Caicos Islands National Team
PROVIDENCIALES, Turks & Caicos Islands - Callum Park (Providenciales, Turks & Caicos Islands), a first-year student-athlete within the Regis College men's soccer program, has been selected to play with the Turks and Caicos Islands Senior Men's National Football Team in two upcoming matches of the CONCACAF Nations League.
Park is on the roster as Turks and Caicos Islands will host the U.S. Virgin Islands in Providenciales Saturday, March 25, starting at 3:30 p.m. Eastern Time. The squad will conclude play in League C, Group A of the 2022-23 CONCACAF Nations League by traveling to face Bonaire Tuesday, March 28, beginning at 7 p.m. Eastern Time.
During the fall 2022 collegiate soccer season, Park, a midfielder, appeared in 15 matches for the Regis Pride, including seven starts. His first career collegiate start came against Westfield State Sept. 14. He scored the game-tying goal in the 39th minute during the Pride's 1-1 tie with Colby-Sawyer Oct. 8, his first career collegiate tally.
"It is a great opportunity for any athlete to represent their country. We are proud to have a Regis student-athlete in a position to do so at a young age," Renato Capobianco, Regis College head men's soccer coach, said. "This experience will give Callum a sense of pride, but it will also teach him a greater sense of responsibility. Hopefully that will rub off on his teammates when he returns to campus."
Majoring in environmental sustainability, Park has proactively made arrangements with his professors to make sure he keeps up with his academic obligations while competing for his country. He is one of the Regis students chosen by the Center for Ministry and Service to attend the ACSSJ pilgrimage to LePuy, France this upcoming summer.
Regis College sponsors 20 intercollegiate sports, including men's soccer, within NCAA Division III as a member of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.
