Class of 2021 Spotlight - Men's Soccer
WESTON, Mass. - The Regis College men's soccer program sees six student-athletes graduate as part of the Class of 2021. The Pride qualified for the GNAC Tournament in both 2017 and 2018, reaching the semifinals of the 2017 tournament.
Mitchell Boudreau (Swanton, Vt.) transferred to Regis and would play in 31 matches for the Pride, including four appearances in the starting lineup. His first career point came during the 2018 season as he assisted on the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Emmanuel. He also earned an assist in the 2019 season as he set up the first Regis tally as the Pride defeated Emerson, 3-1. Mitchell was also a dependable gameday worker for the sports information office, serving as a stat caller in volleyball, basketball, and lacrosse. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in sports management.
Cesar Da Silva (Boca Raton, Fla.) appeared in 46 matches for the Pride, including 35 starts. His first career goal came as a freshman against Mount Ida, plus he collected three assists in 2017. In 2018, Cesar scored the game-tying goal at Lasell, plus he earned assists in victories over Suffolk and Becker. Cesar scored the Pride's first goal of the 2019 season in the opener against Lesley, and then he earned another tally later in the year against USJ. Cesar received Third Team All-GNAC honors and was named to the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team. A two-time Academic All-GNAC selection, he completed his bachelor's degree in exercise science.
Fabyanno Furbino (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) made 37 starts among his 48 appearances for the Pride. His first two goals came as a freshman at Albertus Magnus, including the game-winning tally in overtime. He repeated two-goal efforts in victories at Becker and at Emerson as he finished the 2017 season with seven goals. In 2018, he got going in early October with a goal in three straight victories at Pine Manor, at Rivier, and against Becker. As a junior, he scored twice in Regis' 3-0 victory at Dean, plus he picked up a goal at Anna Maria. Of his 13 career goals, six of them were considered game-winning tallies. Fabyanno earned his nursing degree here at Regis.
Elias Jorge Jr. (East Boston, Mass.) joined the men's soccer program starting in the 2019 season and came off the bench in 11 contests for the Pride. His first appearance came against Babson, while he took his first career shot in a GNAC contest at Colby-Sawyer. He also attempted shots in conference matches at Anna Maria and at Suffolk. He has been majoring in criminal justice with a minor in psychology while at Regis.
Sal Madera (Rocky Hill, Conn.) started 46 of the 51 matches he appeared in, helping the squad qualify for the GNAC Tournament in both 2017 and 2018. In his sophomore season, he earned his first career collegiate point with an assist against Eastern Nazarene, plus he collected another assist against Suffolk. His third career assist came in a 4-0 conference win over Anna Maria. As a member of the Pride backline, he was part of nine shutouts during his career, including three 1-0 shutouts during the 2018 season. The 2021 Male Senior Scholar-Athlete Award recipient, Sal received his bachelor's degree in cybersecurity.
Grayson Owens (Marshfield, Mass.) appeared in 50 matches during his collegiate playing career, including 21 starts. In 2016, he scored his first career goal just 3:35 into the match against Fitchburg State. He scored three goals in 2017, starting with the first Regis goal of the season in the opener at Eastern Nazarene. Grayson returned to the program for the 2019 season and played in 16 matches, including seven starts. He took three shots in the season opener against Lesley and five shots in the team's 2-1 victory over Rivier. Grayson graduated from Regis with a bachelor's degree in business management.
