NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Two goals in the last six minutes of play led the Regis College Pride to a 2-1 win over the Albertus Magnus men's soccer team on Monday afternoon in non-conference action. The Falcons (1-3-0) outshot the Pride 30-9, including a 21-6 clip in the second half, but two late goals gave Regis (1-3-0) its first victory of the season.
Ross Suleski (Amesbury, Mass.) gave the Falcons a 1-0 lead in the first half with his first goal in a Falcon uniform. In the 21st minute, the Falcons' played the ball into the box where Dan Dwyer (Hamden, Conn.) flicked a pass in the direction of Suleski, who netted the Falcons' lone goal of the contest.
The Pride finally got on the board in the 85th minute. Prince Mukala's (Malden, Mass.) header attempt hit off the cross bar, but the rebound found the foot of brother Christian Mukala, (Malden, Mass.) who scored his first goal of the season.
Two minutes later, freshman defender Marek Kotecki (Milton, Mass.) drilled a shot from just inside of the box to score the eventual game-winning goal. Sophomore Kenny Charron (West Warwick, R.I.) played the ball to the feet of Kotecki to give the Pride the win.
Albertus' Donato Piroscafo (Naugatuck, Conn.) made two saves in net for the Falcons, while the Pride's Manny Calderon (Bristol, Conn.) tallied 14 saves, including ten in the second half.
Suleski led all players with nine shots, including five on goal.
Regis returns to Weston, Mass. on Wednesday afternoon when they welcome New England College for a 4:00 p.m. non-conference game on the turf.
