WESTON, Mass. - The Regis College men's lacrosse team recently released its 2013 lacrosse schedule. The Pride will play in two conferences as members of both the long-standing Pilgrim League and the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC). The NECC will offer the inaugural year of sponsorship of a men's lacrosse champion.
The team begins with a home NECC conference game versus Becker College on February 23. The two teams met last year in a contest that saw Regis down the Hawks by a score of 11-10 in Leicester, Mass.
Less than 24 hours later, the Crimson & Gold make their first of two season trips to Nashua, N.H., when they take on the Raiders of Rivier University. This will be the first-ever meeting between the two colleges.
During spring break, Regis travels to the state of Texas where they, along with the women's lacrosse team, will face-off against Southwestern University on March 7 before rounding out the weeks' schedule against the University of Dallas two days later.
Following a short break in action the Pride hosts SUNY Canton from upstate New York on March 16. The schools last met on March 10, 2012 during which the Pride came out on the short end of a 3-1 loss to the Roos.
Two NECC contests in just six days await the squad when they first welcome Mitchell College on March 23 before making their final trip to Nashua for a tilt with Daniel Webster College on March 28. Previous contests against both teams include a heartbreaking 7-6 overtime loss in New London last season to the Mariners, while last besting the Eagles of Daniel Webster in 2011 with a 16-5 victory.
The toughest stretch of the season occurs in April when the stickmen play nine games in three weeks, including the start of Pilgrim League action versus 2012 NCAA tournament participant and #13 ranked Springfield College on April 3. They follow up with the other conference 2012 finalist Wheaton College in Norwood, Mass. just three days later. The squad completes their NECC play with a road contest against Wheelock College on April 9.
In addition to a rematch of last season's 15-9 victory versus Johnson State College on April 10, the Crimson and Gold play three-consecutive Pilgrim League contests against Clark University (April 13), MIT (April 17) and Babson College (April 19).
Rounding out the regular season will be two home matches when the Pride hosts Bryn Athyn College from Philadelphia, Pa. on April 20 and the Massachusetts Maritime Academy on April 24.
The Pilgrim League Tournament semifinals will be held on May 1, and the championship will be on May 4.
