Men's Basketball Handles Colby-Sawyer On The Road
NEW LONDON, NH -- The Pride's men's basketball team was back in action tonight, taking on the Chargers of Colby-Sawyer in another Great Northeast Athletic Conference Matchup. Regis would handle business winning tonight's contest 75-66. The win would improve their record to 13-10 overall, 4-6 in GNAC play.
It would be familiar faces for the Pride's offense as Aamyr Sullivan (Middletown, NY) would facilitate the offense with eight assists, Jamir Harvey (Robbins, Ill.) would compliment him with 24 points while shooting 64%.
For Colby-Sawyer, First-Year Tobey Bellows would be their guy dropping a career high 29 points.
How it Happened
The Pride began this one wasting no time opening up the game on a 12-0 run led by Sullivan and Harvey. From there, the Chargers would try to keep themselves in it going back-and-forth with Regis but with about 8 minutes left in the first half, their deficeit would still be nine. Although they would continue to exchange buckets, the Pride would keep their cushion taking a 14 point lead into halftime 40-26.
Regis focused on maintaining control in the second half as Colby-Sawyer attempted to chip away at the deficit. Bellows sparked several scoring runs for the Chargers with perimeter shooting and aggressive drives, helping his team briefly cut into the lead. However, every time the margin tightened, The Pride responded. In the closing minutes, Regis capitalized at the line and limited mistakes, holding off the push to secure the 75–66 victory.
