Men's Basketball Outmatched By Lasers
NEWTON, Mass -- The Pride men's basketball team was back in action tonight taking on the Lasers of Lasell in another Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Matchup. Lasell would jump out to an early lead and not look back as they took this one 90-67. With tonight's loss, the Pride's record falls to 9-8, 0-4 in GNAC play.
The Pride were lead by Raymond Johnson who shot 50% from the floor while also grabbing five rebounds and two steals.
For the Lasers, they were lead by Esmer Madesko who shot nine-for-eleven for 22 total points.
How it Happened
Lasell opened the night with a dominant start, going on a 17–0 run behind early three-pointers from Esmer Madesko and Che Hanks. Turnovers and missed layups plagued the Pride, allowing Lasell to steadily build separation. Despite brief responses from Jamir Harvey and Hunter Zancan, Lasell's perimeter shooting fueled a decisive run that pushed the lead past 20 midway through the half. Devon Reid provided a spark late but Lasell continued to answer. Regis closed the half with a few baskets in the final two minutes, but Lasell entered halftime firmly in control, leading 44–17.
Regis showed improved energy to open the second half, forcing turnovers and scoring early baskets from Raymond Johnson and Rob Elliott, but Lasell quickly answered to maintain control. The Pride found brief momentum trimming the margin, but the Lasers consistently responded with timely threes and second-chance points. Despite the Pride continuing to compete and generate offense late, Lasell's depth down the stretch allowed them to steadily extend the lead and close out a 90–67 victory.
Inside the Numbers
- Johnson's 14 points tonight are the most of his career.
- Devon Reid's 10 points are his third game this season with 10 or more points off the bench.
