2018-19 Regis Men's Basketball Schedule
WESTON, Mass. – With one month until the start of the regular season, the Regis College men's basketball team has finalized its 2018-19 competition schedule, featuring 25 regular season games against schools from eight different conferences.
The Pride will play their first six games of the season away from home, beginning with a non-conference game at Lasell Monday, Nov. 12. The 2017-18 season ended for Regis at Lasell in the GNAC quarterfinals. The next night, Regis heads to Milton, Mass., to face the Curry Colonels.
Regis will participate in the NYU Tip-Off Tournament, starting with a first round game against Baruch Saturday night, Nov. 17. The Pride will then face either Sarah Lawrence or NYU the following afternoon, depending on results of the previous day's games.
The Pride will have short trips to Framingham State Tuesday, Nov. 20, and to Newbury College Monday, Nov. 26. Regis opens its home schedule against Wheaton, one of nine games against teams with records of .500 or better last season, Thursday night, Nov. 29.
After a Saturday matinee at Clark on Dec. 1, the Pride will host Rhode Island College Monday, Dec. 3, the final game before the team takes a break for fall semester finals and the holiday season. Regis resumes its season with the Catholic Charities Tournament, hosted by Saint Joseph's College in Standish, Maine, as the Pride will face Emmanuel Saturday, Dec. 29, and Rivier Sunday, Dec. 30.
The new calendar year brings about a home game against Fitchburg State Wednesday, Jan. 2, followed by road contests at Pine Manor Saturday, Jan. 5, and at Suffolk Wednesday, Jan. 9, a non-conference game for both teams.
The 11-game Great Northeast Athletic Conference slate begins with a home game against Norwich Saturday, Jan. 12, followed by road games at Emmanuel Jan. 15 and at GNAC newcomer Colby-Sawyer Jan. 17. The Pride will then play three straight league home games against Lasell (Jan. 19), Suffolk (Jan. 22), and Johnson & Wales (Jan. 26), the defending GNAC Tournament champion.
Regis will travel to Albertus Magnus, last season's top team in the GNAC during the regular season, on Jan. 31 before hosting Rivier Feb. 2. The Pride will play at Anna Maria Feb. 5, host Saint Joseph's College Feb. 12, and conclude the regular season Feb. 16 at University of St. Joseph, playing its first season of intercollegiate men's basketball with legendary coach Jim Calhoun at the helm.
The top eight teams in the GNAC standings will qualify for the conference tournament, with quarterfinals set for Tuesday, Feb. 19, followed by semifinals Thursday, Feb. 21, and the championship game Saturday, Feb. 23. All games will take place on the home courts of the top remaining seeds.
Regis completed the 2017-18 season with a 12-14 overall record, including a 9-7 record within the GNAC to finish in a tie for fifth place in the regular season standings. Head coach Nate Hager has led the program since its inception in 2007 and will be on the sidelines for his 12th season.
