VEGA NAMED TO OKI DATA AMERICAS ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM

Weston, Mass.—Having played in two of Regis’ three games this season, and missing its first due to an injury, senior Jesse Vega (Pawtucket, R.I.) earned himself an Oki Data Americas All-Tournament Team announcement over the weekend.

“It feels great,” Vega said. “I attribute it to my teammates and coaches who put me in position to perform at that level.”

Vega missed the Pride’s first game due to an injury, but accumulated 55 minutes against Rowan and St. Joseph’s of Brooklyn.

Regis fell to Rowan 66-60 on Nov. 20. Vega was perfect from the floor shooting 5-of-5, and scoring 10 points in 28 minutes. He also notched an assist and a block.

Returning to the floor in the consolation game Nov. 21 versus St. Joseph’s of Brooklyn, Vega was one of three Pride members in double figures. He had 24 points in 6-of-7 shooting from the floor, and a perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line.

In 27 minutes Vega was one rebound short of posting a double-double. Normally not a three-point shooter, Vega was 1-for-1 from behind the arc.

Regis out shot St. Joe’s in field goal, three-point, and free throws Saturday. Regis was 44.8, 36, and 82 percent, to St. Joe’s 31, 24, and 56 respectively.

The Pride return to the floor Dec. 1 to take on Fitchburg State College in Fitchburg, Mass. The game is scheduled for a 7 PM tip-off.
